Myarticlenetwork, Linkvana and other Blog Communities

It's true that you need to get as many backlinks as possible to get your site indexed and ranked.  No doubt about that this is why I joined Linkvana and Myarticlenetwork beginning of the year and stayed a member for 4 months.
If you have no idea what I am talking about: Linkvana and Myarticlenetwork have huge Blog Communities hosted on multiple IPs and you can send your article (blog post) to Blogs in their network. Myarticlenwetwork blog community primarily consists of people who have signed up to receive blog posts sent to their blogs.
Myarticlenetwork states that they have a blog network of 10,000 blogs and tthis might definitely be true. When you become a member you can create a spinned version of your article and a unique version will be automatically sent to blogs relating to your niche in their blog network. It does not blast out your blog post to all blogs instantly, but over time to look natural.
In 4 months. I had created over 200 blog posts which were posted over 25,000 times. The result: Nothing.
I know, backlinks will not show up instantly, but after 4 months not a single blog post was listed as a backlink neither when I looked up my domains in Google nor in Backlinkwatch.
The domains I used did not get any boost in rankings nor in traffic. After 4 months there should at least be some results.
So why is this? My guess is that the blogs in the network are mostly spammy autoblogs that do not have any authority in the eyes of google. Thus google will not give links found on this site any link value.
It's the same with Linkvana.
This is why I cancelled my membership to both of them. It's obviously not worth it. At least not for me.
From what I see know it make smore sense to get ONE high quality backlink than 1000s of backlinks from low quality blogs.
